Dom Sibley provided a wonderful account of the old test stick method and presented the honors to England on the first day of the second test at Old Trafford. After 82 overs, England were 207 for 3, with an unbeaten position of 126 points between Ben Stokes (59 *) and Sibley (86 *) frustrating the West Indies.
The opening session was delayed more than an hour by the rain. The West Indies won the draw and chose to play first. England reached the lunch break at 29/1, with the rotation of Roston Chase bringing the first break at the interval. Chase brought a hat trick by removing Zak Crawley for a golden duck as play resumed in the second session. Joe Root started but fell 23 for Alzarri Joseph, who has now sent him back in 4 of the last 5 tests, they crossed swords.
Day 2 will witness a standoff between the two to make things fall in their favor. Windies would aim to settle England for a small total and the host would eye a larger total on the board.
